Window AC: Cooling the Atmosphere!

Window air conditioner is becoming one of the basic need of humans. This is one luxury item everyone wants to lay their hands on.

In today's scenario, where in we have a profusion of technologies and brands, choosing your air conditioning system should not be very difficult. Living life king-size is what everybody wants, luxury is all we dream about, but what if the scorching sun in mid May is making your life miserable. Well, to avoid this we depend heavily on the air conditioning system. AC is no more a status symbol now-a-days; rather it has evolved as a necessity.

The term air conditioning most commonly refers to the cooling and de-humidification of indoor air for thermal comfort. In simpler terms, it is a machine used for cooling, heating and ventilation.

Samsung eyes 22 pc of Indian AC market this year

NEW DELHI: Korean consumer electronic major Samsung is gearing up for the upcoming summer with plans to corner about 22 per cent of the expected 2.25 million home air conditioners market in India.

Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd, the subsidiary of the Korean firm today announced its foray into the capacity segments like 0.8T and 1.6T in split ACs and 1.6T in window ACs by launching a new range comprising 10 different star rated AC models as part of its strategy.

"We expect our split AC volumes to grow from around 50 per cent contribution level witnessed last year to around 58 per cent of our total AC volumes this year," Samsung India Deputy Managing Director R Zutshi said in a statement.

The total AC market in India last year was around 1.8 million units, which is expected to cross over 2.25 million units by the end of this year.

Burglar makes off with two pairs of panties

A Fort Walton Beach burglar recently lifted unmentionables from a mobile home during a break-in. The resident of a Heritage Road mobile home told a deputy she noticed the rear door to her trailer "slightly open," according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office offense report. She also said someone had removed the window unit air conditioner and opened the window. Among the items missing from the home were her son’s Sony Playstation and a controller ($200), about 20 games ($15 each), about 10 DVDs ($15 each) and two pairs of girl’s panties. .

Ridges, soffits can effectively draw air

Q: I need help making a decision. We own a 30-year-old house with a low-pitch roof. We replaced the roof about four years ago, added a ridge vent and put an extra soffit vent between each original soffit vent. Other than the ridge vent and the gable vents, there is not another venting system.

My question is (and I hope that I can explain it easily) — would more air be drawn up through the soffit vents to the ridge vent if the gable vents were closed off? It seems that the majority of the air being pulled through the ridge vent would be from the gable vents, since the ridge vent is higher. I hope this makes sense.

Dudes with attitude problems

If this was the same bus that resort to the misdemeanors as described above, it certainly had one hell of an attitude problem. But if it happens to be one of many practising these things as if it was second nature, we have a hell of an attitude problem.
A letter from Kumbaeyer in New Ireland province yesterday showed perhaps another facet of this problem: "Recently, while I was in Mt Hagen, I got the shock of my life when I decided to take a stroll from the Highlander Hotel to the main town centre. Using the route from the coffee market lawn heading towards the Family Centre church and court house, I noticed some cars parked on the lawn. But on closer inspection, I noticed used oil, filters and other used vehicle servicing components were scattered on the lawn. I then realised that these people were servicing their vehicles on the lawn.

Illegal Alien Advocates Ignore the Real Problem

Two United States Catholic bishops have written to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, asking the agency to adopt policies aimed at assisting families and communities affected by immigration raids. Normally I do not engage in discussions relating to religion, but this issue should be important for all Americans, regardless of their religious orientation.

I recently testified before the Indiana State Senate about a bill (SB 335) that would enable the state of Indiana to revoke the business license of any business that repeatedly hires illegal aliens, and provides other measures to enable that state to do the job the federal government won't do where immigration is concerned. During the hearing, I listened to a representative of the Catholic Church talk about the need to honor the dignity of the "undocumented immigrants."

For the Catholic Church to take a stand on an issue that has such extreme implications for national security is outrageous. What is also outrageous is the fact that while the Church decries the lack of dignity that the arrest of illegal aliens represents (in the Church's judgment), why is the Church conspicuously absent at those factories and other work sites where illegal aliens are horribly treated? Why is the Church not showing up to protest the terrible conditions under which illegal aliens often live and work?

During my long career at the former INS, I found (on many occasions) illegal aliens living in abject squalor.
