Track World Cup 07-08 Round 3 - CDM

In the sprint, reigning World Champion Victoria Pendleton has had little luck getting the better of the current World Cup leader, Natallia Tsylinskaya (Belarus). Tsylinskaya eliminated the British rider in Sydney in the quarter finals, before being eliminated herself by Aussie Anna Meares. Newcomer Willy Kanis, a Dutch BMX champion, surprised everyone to get the better of Meares in the final. Pendleton found her speed in Beijing, qualifying fastest and hitting the finals against Tsylinskaya only to be defeated in two rounds, but had better luck in the keirin, winning in Sydney and now leads the World Cup in that event.

Tsylinskaya leads the sprint standings with 20 points to Kanis and Meares' 17, but it remains to be seen who will come to Los Angeles seeking points and who will save the jet lag and hedge their bets on the next round in Copenhagen.

Travels with Lonely Planet: Oklahoma City

Two old-timer (and long closed) Art Deco hotels reopened in the last year, and already their lounges buzz with after-work drinkers. Others hoof it a few blocks west to the recently relocated, Art Deco inspired Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

Footsteps fall below the streets too. Connecting many buildings is an other-worldly 3,000-foot network of commuter tunnels built in the 1970s. Previously glum and uninspired, a recent $1.6 million project has rechristened it as ''the Underground,'' with artful, glowing hallways (and a Chinese restaurant) lit by gold, mauve and sky-blue bulb displays.

One hallway leads north a few blocks to the sobering Oklahoma City Memorial, the site of the 1995 bombing. The touching site features two walls marked with the time of the blast and 168 bronze chairs -- one for each victim -- facing a reflecting pool.

Arsenal 0-0 Milan

Finds a bit of space and fires in a shot from 20 yards that deflects behind for a corner. Much worse, Toure is limping off.

6 min: Lehmann! Catches the corner and hurls the ball 60 yards to Adebayor, pursued by five defenders. Arsenal corner, but Adebayor kicks Kaladze in the head and it's a free kick.

7 min: Senderos on for Toure. Bit of a blow this.

9 min: Long ball to Adebayor. Brilliant control and plays in Eboue on the right. Decent cross but Adebayor's header is easily saved. Some sneaky leaning-in-style defending from Nesta there.

11 min: Eduardo is playing on the left by the way. Adebayor up on his own.

12min: Nice spell of possession from Arsenal. Adebayor looks well up for this. Maldini dives in on Eboue. Corner.

13 min: Corner just evades Senderos and is hacked clear.

Helping underprivileged boys

Miriam Braun came a long way to spread her message to Boca Raton.

Her motivating factor was a group of 6 to 15-year-old underprivileged boys who are the key to her heart.

"Their families are poverty stricken, dysfunctional, and the children suffered severe physical and emotional abuse and neglect in their earlier years," said Braun.

Braun recently visited Boca Raton Synagogue to raise awareness of the Sanhedria Children's Home in Jerusalem, Israel, which is a rehab center for children at risk who have been removed from parents' home by court order and who are referred by Social Services. The children come from dysfunctional households, where there is often a history of alcoholism, physical and verbal abuse, and many come from an underprivileged background.

Radioactive 9/11 WTC IN NYC SETS STAGE FOR NEW TERROR BILL

Not only are New Yorkers being denied to know about the radioactivity in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island, but this new "terror" bill will set the precedent for the rest of the US as well.

::::::::

As I have covered before ( http://www.rense.com/general72/911dis.htm ) NYC officials do not want New Yorkers to learn about the radioactive levels that exist at Ground Zero - and in Staten Island where WTC debris was dumped.

In this great news story and comments below ithttp://www.indypendent.org/2008/02/02/nypd-shills-terror-bill/ we learn precisely why this NY bill must be defeated. We must also fight with all our might upcoming variations of this bill that reportedly will be surfacing all throughout the US.

Gazans Feeling Recoil of Attacks on Israel

When the fighters came one morning last month, the Wahdan family pleaded with them to think of the Israeli return fire that the rockets often drew. "There are women in the house, there are children," Wahdan recalled telling them. "You run away, but if the Israeli planes come, where do we go?"

But the gunmen went on as planned, the Wahdan family said. When the fighters came back that afternoon to launch rockets that had failed to fire the first time, Khadra, Mohammed's 54-year-old mother, was rolling dough in the kitchen. She ran out to shout at the fighters.

Khadra made it to the gate of the family courtyard when an Israeli shell hit. Shrapnel killed her and the family's 15-year-old hired farmhand.

"Her last words were, 'Go away,' " Mohammed Wahdan said.
